The Oak Bay Band Parents Association (OBBPA) is a volunteer group dedicated to supporting Oak Bay Bands. We have many roles in the band program; we communicate with families, help supervise students at events, assist with band events and concerts, raise funds to enhance learning opportunities for our students in the band programs, provide and maintain band uniforms and more.
Funds raised are used for a number of initiatives including purchasing instruments, music and uniforms, creating student music awards, covering band trip expenditures, and assisting students in raising funds to pay for their band trips. Learn more about band accounts on our Fundraising page.
Our current fundraising activities include the Thrifty Foods Smile Program, Poinsettias, Coffee, and Purdy's chocolate sales and fun events. If you have a great fundraising idea, please consider attending one of our monthly meetings or contact one of us!
Every year we are also fortunate to receive other financial contributions to the program from generous sponsors. Donations are welcomed and if you are able to make a donation to the program we would be happy to provide you with the appropriate tax receipt. Please contact Band Director, Mr. Jeff Weaver, for specific details.
We always welcome parent volunteers and have positions requiring as many or as few hours as you have available to give. Please consider an opportunity that suits your schedule. Our board positions generally run from September to June, and volunteer opportunities for fundraisers, events and band trips are always available. Please contact a board member if you have one hour or many to help out.
Board meetings are generally held on the second Tuesday of the month in the Band Room from 7 to 8:30pm. Please note that dates are subject to change. For confirmation, please contact the Secretary.
